Frequently Asked Questions
How do you advertise upcoming events?
We post the events on our website, Facebook, and Twitter.
How many people are at the events?
Usually about a dozen young survivors are at an event. It’s a different
mix of survivors every time. To date, we have over 200 young survivors
in metro Atlanta on our email list.
How do I find you at the event?
We always tell the hostess about our group, so make sure to mention YACS when
you arrive. In places without a hostess, one of us keeps an eye on the door and lets
people know where we are seated.
Can friends and family come to the events?
We host several events throughout the year where caregivers are invited.
What if I don’t know anyone?
No worries! None of us do. You’ll be surprised how quickly the conversation
gets going when you arrive.
Do you talk about cancer the whole time?
It’s hard to say since every event is different. Sometimes it’s all we talk about
and sometimes it hardly comes up at all.
Are the events free?
Some of our events are free. We're working on making them all free. We try to pick
inexpensive locations, though, since everyone seems to be on a tight budget these
days.
Where are the events located?
We try our best to host our events in locations that are central to everyone.
Right now that seems to be along the top end of I-285 or Midtown.
